Highway 62 - #101

99% of what you need to know about Highway 62 can be found in the lyrics, music and videos. Indeed, that's what "#101" (the song) is all about!

Highway 62 is the "house band" of Rebirth Audio, created by Ad Rebirth in collaboration with guest vocalists, musicians and remixers.

The blueprint for the Highway 62 sound was set out in the 2016 debut "I Like U" (featuring Melodi): hi-octane electronic dance/pop, drawing upon the influences of classic synthpop, old-skool rave and contemporary EDM.

The following year "I Like U" was remixed into a pair of reggae/dub versions by Earthbeat. These featured on the Rebirth Dub compilation "The Dub Assignment".

In 2018 "tldr" was released, distilling this eclectic cocktail of influences into just over four minutes. The track is full of musical and lyrical references.... how many can you spot?

"Problematic" was released in 2019, establishing a unique precedent: just one official Highway 62 release a year. but hopefully a damn good one, built to last! "Problematic" was backed by the more downtempo "The Justice Of Love".

In the weeks directly running up to the COVID lockdown of 2020, Highway 62 managed to release "S -O - S (Rebirth)", another spacey synthpop tune that further widened the sonic dimensions of the Highway 62 sound.

"Sabina" (2021) has been described as "electro-baggie", landing somewhere between Sparks, New Order and Pulp, underpinned by irresistible CR-78 beatbox rhythms and metronomic, Moroder-like sequencers.

The elegant "Green Lady" (2022) was originally recorded by Earthbeat, also featuring on "The Dub Assignment". The Highway 62 version combines whipcrack Linndrum beats, spiralling chiptune bleeps, cosmic synth swirls and church organs, all speeding along at hyperspeed. If this sounds like your idea of a good listen, check it out!

The previously mentioned "#101" (2023) saw a drop in tempo and a mahoosive dubstep-inspired riddim - courtesy of long-time friend/collaborator JJ Lacey; with dark and spooky verses giving way to uplifting, romantic choruses..

"#101" was backed by the "Highway 62 Theme", another collaboration with JJ Lacey, this time an instrumental house jam, marking the return to four-on-the-floor based music following experiments with different styles.

In 2024 the "Highway 62 Theme" underwent a stunning transformation in the capable hands of remixer David Noakes, paving the way for Highway 62 V.2.

All the above tracks were featured on the first Highway 62 album "In Space", available digitally and on limited edition collectors' vinyl.

V.2 kicked off properly with 2025's bouncy "For You", written in collaboration with David Noakes, co-produced with JJ Lacey, and featuring vocals from Adelina.

It's now 2026 and the upcoming Highway 62 single is in production as we speak. Stay subscribed to the Highway 62 Newsletter for the latest updates!
